Warning Zone @ Leicester

Education By Experience

Educating children on the potential dangers and pitfalls they may encounter can be a difficult task. Warning Zone was created in 2006 as an interactive “learning for life” centre to make this an easier, memorable and more enjoyable educational experience.

Wherever children live, whatever their backgrounds, Year 6 is a key time to prepare them for increased independence, a wider peer group and the natural “boundary testing” that adolescence brings.  The issues dealt with at Warning Zone are important for every 10 and 11 year old; issues that are hard for parents to discuss with their children and difficult for teachers to tackle effectively in the classroom.

For pupils, a visit to Warning Zone teaches an understanding of personal and social responsibility, risk and the potential consequences of their actions for themselves and others.  For schools, it can help demonstrate the impact of its teaching upon promoting pupils’ moral and social development within the Ofsted inspection framework as well as underlining a commitment to the Healthy School ethos.

Now situated close to Leicester city centre, Warning Zone is operated by an independent charity (RCN 1113659).
